Top 5 Places To Chillax After The Surf Expo
Explore Orlando and decompress after the event.
Surf Expo is the talk of the watersports industry. Taking place twice a year in September and January, Surf Expo is a global watersports and beach lifestyle trade show in Orlando, Florida, featuring over 2500 booths of apparel and hard goods! If that isn’t enough, there is also a full line up of special events including fashion shows, award ceremonies, demos, and insightful seminars and courses to help retailers grow their businesses.
This year you can find Platinum Sun in booth #1703 where we will be showing off our full range of SPF 50 water wear, including some exciting new goodies! Our team will be there to answer any questions on our products and share our stoke for all things watersports. So, make sure you swing by and say hi!
We have been to the surf expo a few times and totally understand that talking business all day can get a little heavy and you will probably need some time to unwind. As you may or may not know, Orlando has so much more to offer than Disney World. So, after the Surf Expo decompress from the hustle and bustle of negotiations and have a little fun! Here are some of our suggestions on cool things to do in Orlando.
Go on a river adventure
As water babies, we find we are most relaxed when we are close to or on the water. Shingle Creek, the Headwaters to the Florida Everglades, is a stunning place to explore. You will be impressed by crystal clear waters and abundance of wildlife such as alligators, bald eagles, osprey and barred owls all in their natural habitat. What’s even more relaxing is crossing it by kayak with just the splashes of your paddles on the water as you move through the cypress forest and beautiful scenery. You can rent kayaks, SUPs, and canoes from The Paddling Center. Have fun choosing your favorite mode of transport!
Play a round of mini golf at Pirate’s Cove
Putt your way through 18 holes of caves, cascading waterfalls and even a pirate ship at the Pirate Cove mini golf course. What a way to temporarily take your mind off of work and have some fun! You could even rephrase it as a ‘team building’ exercise! At just $12.50 per adult, it’s well worth a visit.
Explore the Tibet Butler Nature Reserve
Escape the crowds and head out for a relaxing and shady walk through 440 acres of breathtaking views, flatwoods, and wetlands at the Tibet Butler Nature Reserve. For more information on the hike and its exact location, here’s an informative article by Florida Hikes.
Practice your swing at the local bowling alley
Have some fun and probably even some beers with your friends and colleagues with a game of bowling. Located4 in downtown Disney, the Splitsville Bowling Alley is the Rolls Royce of bowling alleys, but fortunately, isn't priced likes one! At $22 per person, this is a great place to take a break and have some good times!
Hang out with Manatees
We saved the best until last, and this is a must! Take a boat cruise along the Crystal River, which is not only incredibly beautiful but also home to one of the world’s largest populations of West Indian Manatees. With such graceful and majestic creatures, you’ll feel revitalized to talk business again!
If we missed any of your favorite spots to hang, let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to come and chat it up at booth #1703!.
