Vitali Klitschko welcomed the athletes who had won medals at the World Wakeboard Championship
Mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko has presented the gratitude of the Mayor of Kiev for sports achievements and congratulated the athletes who had won medals at the World Wakeboard Championship in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).
For the first time in its history, Ukrainian wakeboard team, which consists of Kiev athletes, has brought home the biggest number of medals of the World Championship.
More than 120 athletes from 26 countries took part in the championship. Ukrainian wakeboarders have won three gold, two silver and one bronze medal. In particular, in the competition among adults Ukrainians have two gold medals, which were given to Dmytro Massalov and Varvara Dolinina. Moreover, Dmytro has won a silver reward in another performance. Iryna Bushkova has also become a winner of the World Championship by getting silver. In the competition among juniors the top stage of the podium belongs to Anastasiia Ponomarenko; and 6-year-old Danylo Kleshar, who has got a bronze medal, has become the best among boys. Mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko has encouraged young people to follow the example of the winners and to be more active in sports.
“We are proud of you. The more people take sports, the faster and more successfully it will develop”, – said Vitali Klitschko.
In his turn, the President of Ukrainian Waterski and Wakeboard Federation Yurii Zozulia has acknowledged the fact that in spite of hard times for their country, Ukrainian athletes have represented it in a worthy manner, by winning medals. Ukrainian athletes were proud to look at the flag of Ukraine while listening to the national anthem of their country from the podium.
